We make life easier for craftsmen
While other medium-sized companies are relocating their production abroad, Aluca GmbH is consistently investing in its location in Germany. The medium-sized specialist for aluminum vehicle equipment for craftsmen and service technicians is responding to rising wage costs and international competitive pressure with a comprehensive transformation process – and with Staufen, part of Accenture, as its strategic partner.
High energy prices and regulatory hurdles are among the reasons why many companies are considering relocating their production. Aluca has deliberately chosen a different path, writing a unique success story that is “Made in Germany.” The medium-sized company from Rosengarten near Schwäbisch Hall is consistently focusing on transformation at its domestic location. With lean enterprise, digitalization, and a strong corporate culture, Aluca is defying rising labor costs and international competitive pressure.
“Every change must always be supported by senior management and shareholders,” says CEO Frédéric Straß. Together with shareholder Operando Partners, Aluca is pursuing a holistic lean transformation that goes beyond traditional efficiency thinking. “We think lean not only in production, but also company-wide as a lean enterprise. From strategy development with Hoshin Kanri to daily management on the shop floor, all employees are involved.”
Two pillars – one bridge
Aluca’s transformation is based on two strategic pillars: human resources development and corporate strategy. Both are linked by consistent implementation on the shop floor, the heart of the company. Leadership programs, structured personnel development, and clear leadership principles provide orientation and promote personal responsibility. At the same time, the application of Hoshin Kanri at the strategic level ensures clear goals and continuous alignment.
A key success factor is the close collaboration with Staufen. Together, they developed a transformation concept with clear responsibilities, measurable goals, and targeted leadership coaching.

Digitalization as an accelerator
As part of this transformation process, Aluca has fundamentally redesigned its processes: digital, efficient, and customer-focused. From order receipt to delivery, the company began digitizing processes, modernizing work equipment, and reorganizing sales structures.
Customer service has been significantly simplified thanks to the modular design of the interior fittings and follows clear standardization. Individual configurations can be created from an extensive product kit with recurring elements such as shelving systems or partition walls. This accelerates the sales process, ensures error-free execution, and is optimally managed, including sales funnels and growth metrics.
This agile approach is supported by the reorganization of production and ensures greater transparency. A key tool is the digital configurator. It translates customer needs into precise product specifications and significantly reduces complexity. “Thanks to the digital configurators, our sales department is faster, more efficient, and at the same time, of higher quality,” explains Managing Director Straß.
Lean not only increases transparency but also gives employees more responsibility and freedom for innovation. Instead of traditional hierarchies, Aluca relies on leadership through comprehensive process understanding. Thirty-four employees received targeted training in process optimization. Staufen is supporting this cultural change with coaching, much to Straß’s satisfaction: “When I see how individual employees have developed, it shows me that we’re on the right track.”

We embrace Lean not only in production, but also company-wide as a Lean Enterprise. From strategy development with Hoshin Kanri to day-to-day management on the shop floor, all employees are involved.”FRÉDÉRIC STRASS
CEO, Aluca GmbH
Innovation begins with the customer
The jointly developed shopfloor cascade strengthens Hancho’s management level and further optimizes communication, quality, and speed. Furthermore, product development at Aluca is even more focused on the perspective of the buyer and daily user.
“With Aluca, we want to be the process and solution partner for tradespeople and service technicians, and make this tangible right from the sales perspective,” emphasizes Straß.
The patented MetaConnect system exemplifies how this consistent customer focus pays off. It integrates various case and tool systems that tradespeople typically use in parallel – a practical solution for a specific problem.
“We address our customers’ everyday work, not just their orders,” says Frédéric Straß.

Batch size 1 – series quality individually
What was previously difficult to imagine is now reality at Aluca: customized products in batch sizes of one, manufactured according to the principles of series production. This is made possible by the combination of digitalization and modularization. Standardized modules, flexible processes, and intelligent product design enable customized solutions at competitive costs.
According to Straß, Aluca thinks beyond production: “Our motto ‘Ease your Work’ is more than just a slogan. We want to simplify and improve our customers’ work processes, as well as our own. We achieve this by being a quality leader, not only in our products, but also in our processes.”
The choice of aluminum as a material reflects this approach: Lightweight in construction, easy to handle, easy to use – this principle permeates the entire company.
Home as a competitive advantage
Aluca will remain committed to Germany as a driving force for innovation in the future. At the same time, in line with its own Vision 2030, the growth trajectory embarked upon in recent years will be continued alongside international expansion, without compromising on its standards. “We will remain lean, agile, and focused,” says Aluca CEO Straß. “Our strength lies in the combination of customer proximity, technology, and corporate culture.” Aluca is thus demonstrating that modern industrial production is also sustainable in Germany: with a clear strategy, digital agility, and an uncompromising commitment to quality.
