Die virtuelle Veranstaltungsreihe Ready for Restart ging am 30.7 mit dem Thema „Aus der Krise lernen. Zukunft gestalten.“ in die nächste Runde. Die Vortragenden Martin Haas, Mitgründer und Aufsichtsratsvorsitzender der Unternehmensberatung Staufen AG, und Dr. Eberhard Veit, ehemaliger Vorstandsvorsitzender der Festo AG und Gesellschafter der 4.0-veIT GmbH, zeigten auf, dass Krisen ein enormes Potenzial zum Lernen bieten.

Die virtuelle Vortragsreihe „Ready for Restart: Aus der Krise lernen und Zukunft gestalten“ startete am 9.7.2020. In der eineinhalb-stündigen Session erfuhren die Teilnehmer alles rund um das Thema Reorganisation von Supply Chains und Wertschöpfungsnetzwerken. Die vortragenden Experten Thomas Spiess, Mitglied der Geschäftsführung der Schweizer Staufen-Tochter Staufen.Inova AG, und Bernd Gleixner, Executive Vice President bei der Bruker BioSpin zuständig für Einkauf, Logistik und Produktion, beleuchteten hierbei was notwendig ist, um Krisen reibungslos zu überstehen und die Glieder einer Prozesskette intelligent zu steuern.

Köngen – Although even well before the COVID-19 crisis, the German mechanical and plant engineering industry had been struggling with a global economic downturn, trade conflicts and structural problems in the automotive industry, many companies were suffering from neglecting their efficiency potential. As can be seen in the survey conducted just before the lockdown by Staufen AG among close to 90 German mechanical and plant engineering manufacturers, themselves global market leaders, based on their own assessment, a good two-thirds of the companies had considerable efficiency reserves at the time the pandemic broke out. Now that the German industry is starting back up again, the challenge is to quickly elevate them.

Köngen – Staufen AG is undergoing a generation change. After 25 years at the head of the management consultancy, which was founded by him and Ralf Stokar von Neuforn, Martin Haas is moving to the Supervisory Board and taking over as Chairman. Wilhelm Goschy, who has been a member of the Executive Board for many years, will chair the consultancy’s operational management committee as his successor in the future.

In April 2020, a cooperation agreement was signed between SC&C Partner and Staufen AG. With this partnership we will further expand our services to the Czech Republic and Slovakia by benefiting from the synergies of the cooperation. SC&C Partner has a team with a lot of practical experience in applied Lean and Six Sigma as well as Statistical Data Processing at hand. Staufen contributes to the partnership especially with its experience and skills in Smart Manufacturing and Lean Leadership. Together we will offer our services to multinational and local companies across the region.

How do your employees withstand the pressure? On average, every employee is interrupted by an email or a call every 11 minutes. Neuroscientists say that the human brain can become addicted to such external stimuli. Focused communication within the company helps to create a concentrated, productive environment despite such interruptions. Short, daily meetings for consultation are efficient and focus processes on value-adding tasks. We use clear rules: Clear goals and procedures are communicated to prepare participants. Interruptions are consistently stopped. In addition, only people who can make a concrete contribution are invited. At the end, decisions and the next steps are recorded and agreed upon. As a result, decisions can be made more quickly.

Köngen – More than 50% of industrial companies want to increase the number of their suppliers in order to distribute potential risks. In addition, 40% are planning to implement greater control of their partners in the supply chain. The goal: Create greater stability and prevent future delivery failures. These are the results of the international study “Restart after Shutdown 2020.” Management consultancy Staufen interviewed more than 730 companies. Participants came from Germany, USA, China, Brazil, Mexico, Switzerland, Italy and Central Eastern Europe.

Köngen – Measures introduced around the world to contain the Covid-19 pandemic are developing into a long-term stress test for the industry. 56 percent of companies assume that they will not be able to resume work like before the shutdown until the end of the year at the earliest, or even over the course of next year. According to the current study “New start after the 2020 shutdown,” however, seven percent of companies fear they will not be able to hold out that long. Management consultancy Staufen interviewed more than 730 companies in April for the study. Participants came from Germany, USA, China, Brazil, Mexico, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Romania.

China is about six weeks ahead of Germany in the course of the corona pandemic. When the first serious restrictions were imposed here in mid-March, China began ramping up their factories again. From reactivating supply chains and stabilizing production lines to ensuring hygiene and safety distances when employees return to the plants – everything the German industry will soon encounter can already be observed there. German companies should take a close look and learn from these experiences, advises business consultancy Staufen.
