In order to be competitive on saturated markets, many manufacturers (OEM) often find only one solution: they expand their range of products with new product variants thus trying to completely exhaust niches. Only few of them, however, have a reasonable variant and complexity management.

Noch zu Beginn des Jahres 2003 stand für die CMC Consumer Medical Care die Verlagerung der Verbandkastenfertigung nach Osteuropa oder China im Raum. Rund 200 Fach- und Führungskräfte trafen sich am 6. und 7. Mai 2008 in München unter dem Motto „Konzentration auf Wertschöpfung – eine ganzheitliche Aufgabe“.

Nachhaltig positive unternehmerische Ergebnisse erzielt die CMC Consumer Medical Care GmbH im Bereich Erste Hilfe. Dies entschied die Jury des Kompetenzpreises für Innovation und Qualität Baden-Württemberg und zeichnete das Heidenheimer Unternehmen jetzt als eines von dreien im Rahmen des begehrten Preises aus. CMC verbinde innovative Voraussetzungen mit hervorragenden Umsetzungsprozessen und erfülle damit alle Bewertungskriterien, hieß es. Das Kerngeschäft von CMC ist die Herstellung von Erste Hilfe-Sets.

Starting May 2007, MAHLE Filters in Murfreesboro (MFMB) began working with Staufen AG, a consulting firm out of Germany, to implement Lean Manufacturing. The goal is to establish worls-class production systems within MFMB. Initially this project is focusing on carbon canister production in Murfreesboro; however this philosophy will be rolled out plant-wide in 2008.

Close contact to the customer by founding a third branch abroad After its founding on 1 October, the Staufen AG currently opens up its branch in Wroclaw, Poland. The most important customer is MAN, as the well-established manufacturer for commercial vehicles at the same time has established its third Polish factory close to Krakow. The process consultants of Staufen which have been internationally successful for years as a partner of manufacturing companies on their way to best practice train the new production team of MAN in Poland.
