Köngen – The digital transformation of the economy is progressing worldwide. According to “Digitalization 2020”, an international study, many companies are especially convinced of the advantages of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). However, to date, only every fourth company has already implemented projects in the field of AI/ML as well. For this study, business consultancy Staufen together with experts from Staufen Digital Neonex, surveyed more than 1,100 companies. Participants came from Germany, USA, China, Brazil, Mexico, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, and Romania.

Digital maturity determines crisis resistance / Every fifth digitalization project adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic – International study “Digitalization 2020”

2020 has been and is still being significantly determined by the COVID-19 pandemic. The same applies to digitizing the global economy. As an example, according to the international study “Digitalization 2020”, every fifth digitalization project (21 percent) has been stopped or is being fully restructured as a result of the months-long shutdowns. Companies with a high degree of digital maturity have overcome the COVID-19 crisis significantly better than their competitors. In August, the management consultancy Staufen, in collaboration with the experts from Staufen Digital Neonex, interviewed more than 1,100 companies for the study. Participants came from Germany, USA, China, Brazil, Mexico, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Romania.

In der eineinhalb-stündigen Session erfuhren die Teilnehmer alles rund um das Thema Reorganisation von Supply Chains und Wertschöpfungsnetzwerken. Die vortragenden Experten Thomas Spiess, Mitglied der Geschäftsführung der Schweizer Staufen-Tochter Staufen.Inova AG, und Bernd Gleixner, Executive Vice President bei der Bruker BioSpin zuständig für Einkauf, Logistik und Produktion, beleuchteten hierbei was notwendig ist, um Krisen reibungslos zu überstehen und die Glieder einer Prozesskette intelligent zu steuern.

69 percent of German companies in the mechanical engineering industry have huge efficiency potential / using the restart after COVID-19 as a strategic opportunity – Global Market Leader Study

Köngen – Although even well before the COVID-19 crisis, the German mechanical and plant engineering industry had been struggling with a global economic downturn, trade conflicts and structural problems in the automotive industry, many companies were suffering from neglecting their efficiency potential. As can be seen in the survey conducted just before the lockdown by Staufen AG among close to 90 German mechanical and plant engineering manufacturers, themselves global market leaders, based on their own assessment, a good two-thirds of the companies had considerable efficiency reserves at the time the pandemic broke out. Now that the German industry is starting back up again, the challenge is to quickly elevate them.
