Digital maturity determines crisis resistance / Every fifth digitalization project adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic – International study “Digitalization 2020”
2020 has been and is still being significantly determined by the COVID-19 pandemic. The same applies to digitizing the global economy. As an example, according to the international study “Digitalization 2020”, every fifth digitalization project (21 percent) has been stopped or is being fully restructured as a result of the months-long shutdowns. Companies with a high degree of digital maturity have overcome the COVID-19 crisis significantly better than their competitors. In August, the management consultancy Staufen, in collaboration with the experts from Staufen Digital Neonex, interviewed more than 1,100 companies for the study. Participants came from Germany, USA, China, Brazil, Mexico, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Romania.

69 percent of German companies in the mechanical engineering industry have huge efficiency potential / using the restart after COVID-19 as a strategic opportunity – Global Market Leader Study
Köngen – Although even well before the COVID-19 crisis, the German mechanical and plant engineering industry had been struggling with a global economic downturn, trade conflicts and structural problems in the automotive industry, many companies were suffering from neglecting their efficiency potential. As can be seen in the survey conducted just before the lockdown by Staufen AG among close to 90 German mechanical and plant engineering manufacturers, themselves global market leaders, based on their own assessment, a good two-thirds of the companies had considerable efficiency reserves at the time the pandemic broke out. Now that the German industry is starting back up again, the challenge is to quickly elevate them.

Staufen founder Martin Haas moves to the head of the Supervisory Board / Wilhelm Goschy takes over as CEO of the international transformation consultancy
Köngen – Staufen AG is undergoing a generation change. After 25 years at the head of the management consultancy, which was founded by him and Ralf Stokar von Neuforn, Martin Haas is moving to the Supervisory Board and taking over as Chairman. Maja von Olnhausen

Since 2007, Verena Franz has been with RECARO Aircraft Seating, and today she also collaborates with Staufen Academy, where she is a trainer. Initially joining the process management team in Schwäbisch Hall, she took on her first leadership role at the plant in Texas in 2010. After returning to Germany, she directed and globalized the complaints system, among other things, while she later assumed responsibility for quality management. Since 2022, Verena Franz has assumed global responsibility for the Lean and Management Systems Team. Guido Gratza is a graduate engineer in computer sciences and has a degree in human resources development (M.A.). Since early 2011, he has been in charge of the Graben-Neudorf assembly plant. The main focus is on the realisation of cost savings and cycle time reductions as the result of consistent process orientation in assembly and logistics. In addition, he supervised various manufacturing projects and played a major role in the development of lean structures at SEW in China.
